Discover the Experience

Capturing your unique moments

As a photographer, I strive to capture genuine emotions and create timeless memories. I believe in the beauty of individuality and authenticity, and my goal is to reflect that in every photograph I take.

How it Works

How It Works

Step 01

Initial Consultation

We will schedule a time to talk, either in person or digitally, and I will ask you what you are looking to achieve. We'll discuss who you want in the pictures, what you want to feel when you look at them, and where you would like to put them when you are finished. You'll tell me what you like and what you don't, and we will get a good sense of each other. My initial consultations are free and in-depth; the more I understand what you are looking for, the easier it is for me to make you happy.

Step 02

Shoot Prep

Before you arrive for your session, we will have agreed on your outfit selections and I will have backdrops hanging (and props arranged, if desired) that compliment your vision. My studio will be ready for us to begin. If you have a particular place you would like to hang your pictures, I will have seen it in person or via photograph or video-chat. If you are updating a portrait or headshot, I will be familiar with what you have and how you want to improve it. Once you arrive, we will sit and go over everything that will happen during your session, and then we will begin shootinig.

Step 03

The Photoshoot

Once you arrive, you can have a drink and a snack and we will go over what we will be doing and any reservations you might have. We'll talk about what makes you feel comfortable, and whether there is anything about your appearance that you want to highlight or minimize. We can shoot to your playlist or one of mine, and you are free to browse in my client wardrobe. Clients find the shooting experience fun and exhilarating!

Step 04

Previews and Final Products

Within a few weeks I will have fully edited images for you to see. My strong preference is for you to come into the studio so that you can see your images on a calibrated screen (many computer and phone screens are not correctly calibrated and it skews the colors on the image - I do not want you to be surprised when an image is printed in different colors than appear on your screen.) If you want input from family and friends I will send you a gallery of images, but be aware that your color profile might be different than the printers. We will discuss  printing, hanging and framing options, and then you will make your selections.

Pricing

Services & Pricing

My pricing represents the amount of time that I invest in each client. We talk, I prepare for your photo session by planning out backgrounds, locations, costumes, attitudes - everything that goes into capturing the most authentic image of what we are trying to achieve together. We then spend time together actually capturing the shots, and then I edit. I spend a lot of time editing your pictures, making sure that the lighting, the expressions, the composition, the color tones - every little detail of your image - is the way it should be. For every hour I am with a client, I probably spend 8-10 working alone planning, setting up, and editing. My pricing structure reflects both the work that you see and the work that you don't, and my clients have been happy with it. The pricing structures below are standardized across the various types of sessions which are available, based on anticipated length of time of the shoot and the amount of time that I spend on my own, making sure that I am proud of the images I give you. My pricing packages are flexible and you can swap out products based on the prices reflected in the a la carte menu. You can also add items, and I do my best to bundle what you want to buy so that you get the best price I can offer.

Most clients buy more that the package they came in for. Most headshot clients wind up buying several additional images, and families that come in for family portraits usually spend between $1500 - $2000 because once they see the images, they want large wall art for themselves and also wind up buying products for grandparents, etc. There is no obligation to buy anything additional - but I want customers to know the vast majority of my clients fall in love with their images and want to hang them in large format all over their house!

In our initial consultation, we will discuss what you are looking for product-wise and we will also discuss your budget so that there are no surprises; I am a photographer, not a salesman, and I do not put any pressure on you to buy. In fact, other than the deposit, I do not collect payment until after you are satisfied and I deliver my work.

FAQ

Explore some of the commonly asked questions. If you have any other inquiries, feel free to get in touch.

  • My child won’t sit still - are they too young for a photoshoot?
Absolutely not! I have tons of experience with children of all ages (I have four of my own!) and a wide assortment of props that will attract their attention, should I need them. I work fast and am also not opposed to taking a break to let little ones rest. It will be fine!!
  • Do you do boudoir shoots?
Not going to lie - you can probably find someone better to do that. I don’t have experience in that area and there are a lot of photographers who do, so I would suggest that you look elsewhere for those.
  • Will you come into my office and take everyone’s headshots for our website?
Absolutely!! I love doing that, and can give you references!
  • Do you do maternity shoots?
Yes - I LOVE helping expectant mothers feel beautiful and memorializing that forever!
  • Where do you shoot?
I have a 3,000 square foot studio in the Bare Hills section of Baltimore. I also shoot on location at various scenic places throughout Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery counties at no extra charge. If you want me to shoot on location outside of the Baltimore area, please contact me to discuss what you are looking for.
  • What should I wear to my photoshoot?
We will go over this in detail when we have our consultation, and I will then ask you to send me some cell phone pictures of the clothes you are considering. Depending on what kind of pictures you are interested in, I also have an extensive client wardrobe for children and adults to borrow.
  • How long is a photo session?
Mini-sessions are 20 minutes, while regular photo sessions range from 1-2 hours.
  • How long does it take to see my images?
When we shoot in my studio, I shoot tethered, which means that each time I push the shutter on the camera you will see the image on a big screen. Although the image will not be edited (it will appear exactly as I shot it), it will allow us to work together to make sure in the moment that I am capturing exactly what you are looking for. When you make your initial booking we will also set up an appointment approximately 2 weeks after your shoot date for you to see your images on my calibrated screen, and you will then be able to make your selections. After final editing and approval, you will receive your finished photographs (whether framed or printed on canvas, metal, acrylic, wood, or paper).
  • I hate having my picture taken - will I be self-conscious?
I will be talking you through it every step of the way! I hate having my picture taken too, so I will be taking extra time to put you at ease. You will see what I am shooting as I take each picture, which will give you time to adjust and help me get exactly what you are looking for. We will work together to get you to a good comfort level, and believe it or not, you will wind up having a good time!
  • Will you take my pet’s portrait?
That’s a qualified yes! I will take portraits of your dogs, cats and horses without reservation. I think I can shoot anything with fur or hair. I’m not going to lie - snakes and lizards scare me, so I will probably say no to that!
